Kivi Park Crowley
We’ve modified the snowshoe race to be completed with MapRun. Let the adventures begin!
There are 20 checkpoints with different point values – 20, 40, 60, and 80 points. Please note there are no flags in the park, but the app will ping when you get within 15m of the correct location.
The Event will be open for competition until April 6th. You can complete the event as many times as you like, but only teams of 2 or more participants will be include in the event's standings
After April 6th, the winning team will be eligible for a prize and free entry into a future Go Orienteering event.
The following are instructions for participating in the event. Full details, including the map and MapRun PIN will be provided upon registration (email info@goorienteering.ca, sign the waiver below, and etransfer $10 per person):
1. Secure your Kivi day pass – each participant must have a day pass or Kivi membership to do the course. Buy the pass online Park Passes - Kivi Park
2. Install Maprun software on your smartphone. The latest version of MapRun is available in the Playstore or Appstore. Install the app and set up a user profile.
3. Print a copy of the PDF map and plan your route. How many CPs do you think you can collect in 3 hours? What is the best route? You can visit as many CPs as you like in any order. Be warned there is a penalty of 30 points for every minute after 3 hours.
4. Load the event on your phone - You can select our event in MapRun by going to ‘Events Near Me/Canada/Ontario/Sudbury/GO-Kivi/2026 March GO Snowshoe PXAS ScoreQ180’ in the App.
5. Start your adventure! Enter the PIN! When you get to Crowley lot – get all your gear ready to go. Open MapRun and select ‘Start Now’. Make sure your phone is not on silent mode – it will give you a ‘punch’ notification when you reach a CP and turn the checkpoint from pink to green. The race is expecting you to start and finish at the Crowley parking lot. When you are done, select the icon in the top left corner and exit the course.
6. Email your results to info@goorienteering.ca. - Send us an email with a selfie of your team, confirm who did the race, your team name, and the date you did it. It will help us cross reference you in the system.
7. Think you could have done better, try it again! You can repeat the race as many times as you’d like before the cut off. Try a different route, and see if you can beat your last result!
